Isgard Moje Wohlgemuth glass beaker. Isgard is an outstanding glass designer from Germany. She was born in 1941 and with Klaus Moje founded a glass studio in Hamburg in 1961. Isgard first started painting metals in oil on glass in 1967. A primer is applied and then the paint, after which the glass is returned to a kiln and heated up to 600C. This process can be repeated several times, until many thin layers of colour are deposited. This creates a very interesting effect. Since 1971 Isgard has also been making glass jewellery with silver and gold. She has won many awards from all over the world.
This glass almost looks like it is on fire, which the colours curling up the side like flames. The glass is heavy and solid. It is signed on the base, but it is not possible to read the date. The surface is smooth and matte. It is a rarity. |
