| Basil Matthews pottery seated deer or fawn number 14 figure. This is just about one of the cutest animal figures that we have seen from Basil Matthews. We don't know a lot about him. We think he worked during the 1950's - 1960's. The pottery is very heavy and easily broken, so we are pleased to present a figure with legs and ears and horns that are intact. He certainly had a sense of fun. Many of his animal figures are painted in a fantastical manner, and they are all given character. Many are given names or numbers. Here, Basil Matthews has given this deer figure the number 14. A stunning piece. |
